Finally home...

Hello everyone! We were able to come home today...praise the Lord! We left Wake Med shortly after noon today and it seems as though everyone, including Samuel, is a bit more relaxed. I've spent the afternoon and evening hours cleaning up from Christmas and our trip to the hospital. Zandee and Samuel have been enjoying some much deserved rest...amazing how much easier it is when you're at home in a familiar recliner :) We want to thank all of you for praying for us and would ask that you continue to do so as we all make the adjustments to life with "five family" as Brennan calls it. God bless you all and keep coming back to our blog. We'll keep it updated with new photos and videos.

Grace and peace-

Jeremy

Hope for tomorrow

I'm sitting here watching a CBS special on the rise of our new president-elect, Barak Obama. I'm thinking about the many problems that face our world and nation. Many people have labeled our new president, "The Hope." As I reflect upon the last couple of days and the "change" that has come with Samuel's birth I'm reminded that there is no hope in the world without the saving presence and the sanctifying lordship of Jesus Christ in your life. As I think about the many prayers that have made such a powerful difference in our lives the last few days I'm completely convinced that no matter what happens in the world or who's in the White House, the true hope for a better future lies the original and only source of Hope...Jesus Christ. On a lesser note, for the Henderson family, our hope for tomorrow is that Zandee and Samuel will go home :) Regardless, we know that the God who has seen us safely through these last few days will see us safely home.

Thanks for praying...

Jeremy

Welcome to Our World

Truly our best gift this year at Christmas has been Samuel. He and mom and doing great. He's eating well (no surprise to those of you familiar with the Henderson appetite!) and has truly captured our hearts. He's a handsome young guy and looks very much like Brennan and Hannah when they were babies. It's amazing to me to re-discover the wonder of a newborn and a blessing to experience the same love and emotions we had for Brennan and Hannah now in Samuel. It's hard to explain. Before you have another child you wonder if you could possibly have love enough in reserve to give, but once they come on the scene you realize that there's love enough for all...love enough for the taking. I suppose that must be just a taste of the well of the love of our Heavenly Father... Thanks for keeping us in your prayers! God bless you all!

Samuel is here!

The moment we've been waiting for has arrived...Samuel Elijah Henderson is here! Samuel was born at 11:18 am on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Samuel was born 8lbs 8oz, was 20 inches long and his head was 14 inches around. He definitely got the Henderson brains! :) Mom and Samuel both are doing well and recovering from surgery. The nurse kept saying, "Everything's perfect!" God was definitely with us and moved on our behalf because of your prayers. Thank you. We'll update you more throughout the course of the weekend. God bless you all and thanks for your prayers!

Countdown till Samuel is here!

Christmas has taken on a special meaning for us this year. Samuel, Henderson child number 3, is scheduled to come into the world this Friday, December 26th via C-Section.

When he makes his grand arrival we'll post some pictures for everyone to see! Until that time, enjoy some pictures from Thanksgiving :)

God bless you all and Merry Christmas!

First Day of School

Well Hannah had her first day of school on Sept. 5. Now she's a big kindergartener and even likes to walk to class all by herself. So far she loves it and her big brother is able to be with her some. Brennan is in first grade. He is doing well too. We have been very blessed with good teachers and patient ones as well. Hannah has been living in her brothers shadow and is now able to learn from her peers a little more. This is a good thing for her so far :). We have a small video of Hannah putting her things away at school for the first time. You hear my voice in the background saying something about forgetting her supplies. Of course Jeremy didn't tell me he was recording!!

First Motorboat ride

On Labor Day we were able to go boating with some friends from church. It was so much fun. The kids had never been before, so it was fun to see them enjoying it too. At first they were scared, but once we were out there, they had fun. They even went swimming in the deep water (while holding on for dear life with mom and dad :)). Brennan went on the back of the boat and did the innertube with daddy...He was nervous at first, but did it like a pro towards the end!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Today Brennan had a baseball clinic with the North Carolina Mudcats. He is going to be playing baseball with the Miracle League which is a league for special needs kids. Turns out he quite natural at the game. He threw like a champ...just needs some aiming help. He also loves to run the bases and can hit better than we thought. In fact, as soon as they put the ball on the "T" he swung at it. Well little did the Mudcats player who was the "catcher" know, but Brennan can hit well and doesn't wait for the the catcher to be ready. He hit is so hard and so acurately, that he hit the player right between the legs and sent him hopping down the field. I have to admit...I laughed. I know it hurts, but who would have known that Brennan could hit that well. Anyway...we had a grand time and tonight we have free tickets to the game. He also got a new hat signed and everything.

Well as some of you know...we have a new little one on the way. He will be joining us in December. Not sure on the date, but know that it will be planned. We are going to name him Samuel Elijah. This is all a new adventure for us...didn't we just finish potty training and are now suppose to be on easy street? Hah...well we are excited none the less.

A Day at the Beach

Hello all! We were blessed by a family at Raleigh First Nazarene with the opportunity to use their condo at Emerald Isle here in North Carolina. We left Thursday night after work and spent all day Friday and part of the day Saturday at the beach. It was a nice little get-a-way from the daily grind of ministry. We all had a blast...Brennan and Hannah are definitely little "fishies." We've got some videos posted below...hope you enjoy seeing the kids in action. They've gotten huge! Blessings upon you all, The Hendersons
